Silent Sunday Pt. 49! Good Sunday morning… Guessing most - TopicsExpress

Silent Sunday Pt. 49! Good Sunday morning… Guessing most of you already know (of) this band pretty well, today’s 49th edition of this blog is more a reminder to check out their fantastic new album “The Killing Gods”, and not a newcomer tip. I’m talking about US Death/Grind masters Misery Index / https://facebook/MiseryIndex I / We have been fans friends of Misery Index back since their mind-blowing 5-track debut EP “Overthrow” from 2001 and I have mentioned repeatedly that these guys have been about the coolest touring partners that Dew-Scented ever had. We toured together both in 2003 and 2007 in Europe, but have also teamed up on several festivals throughout the years, both over here but also in the US. I still remember how Misery Index saved our trip to New Jersey Metal And Hardcore fest back in 2003 by allowing us to use their instruments in order to perform our set. Anyways, the bottom line here is that Misery Index have definitely been on top of their game and spearheading their style ever since their inception, despite going through several line-up changes, with bassist/vocalist Jason Netherton being the only member left from the early days (notice a similarity?!). And obviously they are one of the hardest working bands around as well… Not only on each of their releases (albums, EP’s, split efforts), Misery Index have constantly managed to musically and lyrically raise the bar for all things groove/chunky in Death Metal…their current line-up with Jason, guitarist/vocalist Mark Kloeppel, Darin Morris on second guitar as well as drummer extraordinaire Adam Jarvis ranks amongst the best live acts that the extreme metal scene can offer these days. Their non-stop touring campaigns of the last decade (more than 1000 shows in over 44 countries!) shaped this four-piece to become an extremely tight and entertaining deadly machinery. And trust me, I have seen them often enough (Most recently at Neurotic Deathfest earlier this month!) to be able to say so! Released as of this weekend in Europe and coming up on the 27th in North America via Season Of Mist, “The Killing Gods” is another powerfully produced and fruitful example of how it’s smoothly possible for a band to stick to their stylistic roots, yet make steps forward as musicians and also expand the borders of their genre once more.
