Siliguri to be Modi-fied Today Siliguri is all set to welcome BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Shri. Narendra Modi, who will be speaking at an election rally in favour of BJP candidates in North-Bengal. There has been a widespread anticipation in political circles, across north-Bengal and particularly so in the Darjeeling, Terai and Dooars region. Where both the groups of people - those who are in favour of Gorkhaland and those who are against Gorkhaland - are in awaiting todays rally with their breath held. Both the sides expect Shri. Narendra Modi to clarify BJPs stand on the Gorkhaland issue. However, BJP sources said that Narendra Modi will be focusing more on highlighting the sufferings of the people in entire North Bengal, and will talk about his plans to improve the living conditions of the people in the region, than make his stand on Gorkhaland explicitly clear. The rally which is being held in Panchakulguri ground on Khaprail Road will start at 9:00 A.M and is expected to last till 12:30 P.M, Mr. Modi is most likely to address the rally towards the end of the program. A large contingent of GJM, Adivasi and Kamtapuri supporters are expected to throng the rally, buoyed by BJPs inclusion of their cause, including the recognition of Kamtapuri language and promise to sympathetically examine and appropriately consider the long pending demands of the Gorkhas, the Adivasis and other people of Darjeeling district and the Dooars region. Network holding good, one of our correspondents will try to report the main issues on twitter, if you are following us, please tune in. If anything vitally important is said, we will upload it on our FB page as well. However we have been warned that as Mr. modi enjoys Z+ security, there will be jammers in place which will prevent electronic communication, and we apologize in advance if we cannot live tweet the event. Darjeeling constituency is one of the most watched contest in all of Bengal and only time and people will be able to tell, which way the votes will swing.
