Simon Slapps Darque [1996] I begin by using a free-form style of a calligraphic influence and after that is finished I study the markings and see various subjects which I enhance using initially pen & inks then followed with watercolor pencils or brush work. Ive created several over the years ranging from small 3x4, 8x10 and also did three full-sized canvases utilizing the same beginnings that I was very pleased with the results. Early on I began titling them using the pre-fix - Simon Slapp, an early name I used tongue-in-cheek and found it to be a good way to title these particular pieces do to their lightheartedness.
