Since Mr. David Schapira is not on Facebook and as a friend and fellow teacher for 40+ years, Im helping promote his book. I know Coach Smith mentioned it when it was first published but I have now read the book (and even have an autographed copy) and hope you (especially his former students and fellow teachers) take the time to read it. I laughed, I cried, and with every word I read, I heard Davids voice telling me his story. I know his students heard some of his war stories in class but I think youll really get a sense of what he went through during his time serving our country before he became the dedicated and beloved teacher/coach you all know. Below is a summary of the book as well as a picture of the cover. Log on to createspace/4538582 to purchase the book and like it on FB. In addition in his own words that he shared with me in an email I am currently in the editing stage of my second book, entitled The Storyteller: How Hard Can Teaching 8th Graders Be? It will cover my 32 years in Osborn, both at Clarendon and Osborn Middle School. All the names will be changed again, so I dont get harassed with law suits from some unhappy people (and there will likely be a few unhappy campers) same as I did for my military book. (Just this week he shared my characters name with me but Im not going to tell - youll have to read the book when it comes out in about a year and see if you can figure out which students and teachers are in his book! Who knows, you may find youre reading about yourself!) Please share this so we can reach as many former students and teachers as possible. Im going to try and post it on the Clarendon page as well even though Im not on that page yet! Not sure students want former teachers on the page! Enjoy and maybe we can get a book signing party organized after you all read his book! Just want to add that it has been amazing reconnecting with so many former students and fellow teachers on FB! You are all a blessing in my life! List Price: $14.95 The Storyteller Live for Today and Look Toward the Future Authored by David L. Schapira Follow the adventures of a naive 22-year-old newlywed as he is first drafted, then he has to navigate through a two-year hitch in the army. From his eye-opening Basic Training experience until he graduates from the NCO Academy, the training is challenging in many ways. When he reports for a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam, the learning curve is elevated exponentially. Throughout his journey he encounters comical situations, bizarre characters, and the self-searching answers for survival that he was constantly facing. Fast-paced and highly entertaining, this book will question your beliefs and survival skills as you move step-by-step with the situations faced by our military men and women on a daily basis.
