Since PushPointe opened its doors in May, 2014 we have watched so many of you achieve amazing things both physically, mentally and spiritually. It is our honor to be able to share in these achievements with you, thank you! We could not be more proud to share with you our first transformation story! It has been a true joy in getting to know and watching this young lady change, grow and inspire our PushPointe community over the past couple of months. It seems like she came out of nowhere but makes a significant impact at PushPointe. As her story will tell she does not have a fitness background, just a determined mindset. It has been a joy and honor to watch her transformation and not just physically. Her positive nature and incredible work ethic has been contagious and we could not be more proud to highlight and share her incredibly inspiring story with you. PushPointe friends, let’s all show some love and encouragement for the young and beautiful Lauren Albano!! Up until the last part of this year I never led a very active or healthy lifestyle. Growing up my older sister was always into sports with my dad while I opted to do weekly art lessons with my mom (polar opposites) also my asthma also didnt help much. When I started college at USC I was pretty happy with my weight, I wasnt skinny but I could still wear most things without feeling self-conscious. About a month into my first semester my dad lost his battle to small intestine cancer and my world went spinning. Just a few months later I was finding out that I was pregnant with my first child (life is crazy!). At this point I had definitely put on some weight between the college lifestyle, stress, coping and eating sonic/taco bell like it was my job. “Lucky” for me I had a very rough first trimester and lost almost ten pounds from being sick. Throughout my pregnancy I gained the healthy recommended weight and then I was put on bed rest at thirty four weeks. You could say all the extra weight I didnt gain the first thirty four weeks managed to all creep up in the last 6 weeks. After Ashton was born it seemed like everything flew by… with school, a newborn, and planning my wedding I didnt have much time to notice what my body was doing. When summer came I was sporting my oversized T shirts to the pool while moms with babies younger then Ash were rocking their bikinis (not being active during my pregnancy and having awful genes was not helping). With only having three months until my wedding I just pushed my excess baby weight out of mind (even though that was the exact opposite of what I should have done, oops!). Fast forward to a few weeks after the wedding and something in me clicked…. I was sick of feeling like I was just lagging on day after day and not being able to wear anything but oversized T shirts. I remember just looking at Ashton one day and realizing I need to do my best so I can be my best for her and so she can have a good example to follow. It wasnt even about being skinny really I guess seeing my dad pass so early was hard and I knew I needed to make major changes in my life to prevent that from happening (adenocarcinoma of the small intestine can be heredity). I wanted to be fit and healthy like my sister but I felt like she was way ahead of me since she had been that way her whole life (which was typically the excuse I would feed myself). So I started with baby steps like jogging with Ashton then I started buying healthy/clean cookbooks and from there I just wanted more. I knew I couldnt just walk into a big gym and stick to it. I didnt even know how to do a proper workout so I found did some research and found PushPointe. I walked into my first class not knowing what to expect and I by the first five minutes I thought I was going to fall over (in a good way!). Even though I was nervous to be out of my comfort zone everyone was so welcoming and I loved having people to guide me. I feel like I can’t even call PushPointe a gym because the word just seems to dull and lacking for what PushPointe is. I think what I learned to love the most was how it each class can challenge all fitness levels from people like myself to someone who is very active. Every effort coach knows how to push everyone to their hardest while still offering alternatives if you need them. I now workout 6 days a week and my workout has become one of my favorite parts of the day. I love being able to get a full body workout with just an hour of my day with each day bringing new challenges. Every workout is intense and pushes you to do better. I regret waiting so long to cross over to this side of life. Between working out with PushPointe and eating better I feel amazing and SO much stronger and I would never go back to how I was before. I love feeling the support from every member, I would not have made it this far without PushPointe and each amazing effort coach! My progress in my last few months with PushPointe has blown me away and I can’t wait to see more transformation in 2015!
