Singapore Triathletes qualifies for the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games TAS would like to congratulate Bryce Chong and Denise Chia, both of whom had won qualification to the 2014 YOG triathlon held in Nanjing China coming August. Racing in a high altitude and wet suit race in the 4 degree Celsius Burabay Kazakhstan whether did not help much for our youth athletes, whom were pretty unfamiliar with racing in such a condition. However, they show true determination against a very strong field of world class youth athletes, all of whom competing for only 5 asian spots up for grab at the 2014 Nanjing YOG Triathlon. Bryce and Denise both crossed the finish line within the top 5 national federation qualification criteria, thus booking their tickets to Nanjing in August. Singapores other representative in the individual male category, Sean Chan came in a respectable 14/23 position, ahead of athletes from 6 other national federations. Japan, Korea and Hong Kong were the other asian federations to qualify for the individual triathlon for both genders. While Kazakhstan and Philippines grab the final spot for the individual male and female respectively. China automatically qualified as host nation. Well done to the 3 youth athletes! Special thanks to all coaching staff of the athletes, as well as the supportive parents whom had funded mostly for their training and competitions. Lets get ready to support our youth triathletes in action, and fly the Singapore flag with pride at the 2014 Nanjing YOG come August! Majulah Singapura!
