Sitting here waiting for the other shoe to drop. Rain, hail and whatever else Mother Nature has to offer is headed our way in Dayton. If lots of pretty colors on the radar were a good thing we would be fine but I don’t think that’s how it works. We have a new leader in the bareback riding. Mandan, North Dakota cowboy Tye Breuer made a really nice ride on N18 Star Trek for 81 points. Top mark tonight in the saddle bronc riding went to young Dalton Kingery from just down the road in Monroe,Iowa. Dalton was 75 tonight on L63 Lakota’s Pet. There was only one qualified ride in the bull riding and that went to Nic Lica with 76 points. In the tiedown roping the fast time and the lead in the second go-round and average went to Justin Zwiefel with a 9.2. In the steer wrestling a 4.1 by Wade Steffen took the top spot and the fastest time in the team roping was a 5.5 for Chase Wiley and Ace Pearce. In the barrel race it was the beautiful Fallon Taylor showing them why she is a champion, running a speedy 15.93 and taking the lead by nearly a full second. Sorry for the short report tonight but the storm hit us with a vengeance and it got a little chaotic and a lot scary. Thankfully everyone is safe (Scotty nearly had a tree fall on him…really). The rodeo grounds had to be evacuated and Boyd, Benje, and the rest made it to safety south of town. Thanks to Luke Fleener for making sure we all were safe and sound. Until tomorrow. Happy trails!
