Sitting here writing up treatment notes in the vet clinic@ Banfield. Years ago I saw a study were they documented a pets awareness of the owners thoughts and location. They did it by blind folding the owner and driving them off in a van. They did not tell the where they were going or when they were returning. They filmed the pets while the owner was away., once they told owner they were taking them back to the house, the dog got up, when to the door and paced waiting for return of the owner, totally out of sight and hearing. I just experienced one of our patients doing the same thing., she had been totally quiet all day in her cage, but suddenly she started vocalizing and pacing. I made a comment to the tech asking if (Zoes) Mom was here and sure enough, she was at the front desk, totally out of sight , behind two walls and doors. No were near Zoe. I truly believe pets communicate on a totally different level. They amaze me each and every day.
