Slander n. oral defamation, in which someone tells one or more - TopicsExpress

Slander n. oral defamation, in which someone tells one or more persons an untruth about another which untruth will harm the reputation of the person defamed. Slander is a civil wrong (tort) and can be the basis for a lawsuit. Damages (payoff for worth) for slander may be limited to actual (special) damages unless there is malicious intent, since such damages are usually difficult to specify and harder to prove. Some statements such as an untrue accusation of having committed a crime, having a loathsome disease, or being unable to perform ones occupation are treated as slander per se since the harm and malice are obvious, and therefore usually result in general and even punitive damage recovery by the person harmed. Words spoken over the air on television or radio are treated as libel (written defamation) and not slander on the theory that broadcasting reaches a large audience as much if not more than printed publications. (See:defamation, fair comment) Gods word has MUCH to say about slander. Just simply type in the subject slander in your bible word search, God covered it from Genesis to Revelation! Jesus put those who continue to do this in the same boat as murderers. Yet I was made aware of some Leadership that once again gets on FB and the internet and does this very thing and yet talks about how them and their Church is so On Fire for God. The bible gives specific instruction on how we are to handle our brothers and sisters who we have disagreements with, how we are to handle our brothers and sisters who fall into temptation. So, what about someone who is trying to be obedient to what God called them to and they keep doing this? Is this not trying to Murder the character and the person you called Brother or Sister? Jesus taught that His Word should be restorative, yet I am amazed at those who refuse to handle situations with a person they called their brother or sister biblically. Yet they sure know how to jump on the Internet and slander and try to destroy with their verbal attacks on something they have NO first hand knowledge of. If they will do this to a person they claimed was their brother or sister, what will they do to someone they dont know? Is this the type of Leadership you want to follow? Jesus and his disciples dealt with these type leaders many times. PEOPLE WE ARE LIVING IN THE TIME GOD WARNS US OF TO TEST THE SPIRIT TO SEE WHAT SPIRIT THEY ARE OF! You might want to read the Word and follow Christ and watch out for those wolves whos desire is to trample and tear those to pieces who they once called Brother or Sister.
