Sligo Rovers chairman Dermot Kelly has highlighted the importance of the upcoming Annual Draw this year and said there is a shared desire amongst the club and supporters to re-engerise the Bit o’ Red’s season. In an address to Rovers fans distributed today, the chairman said there is much to anticipate in the coming months in The Showgrounds and that it is vital the fundraiser on 5 July gets a backing from everyone possible. Ahead of the mid-season break and the countdown to the draw, he said: “While winning the Setanta Cup was the undoubted highlight of the season so far, our focus when we return after the break will be firmly set on achieving greater consistency and improving our league position. “I believe we have a lot to look forward to in the second half of the season. This club has been on a remarkable journey in recent years, achieving unprecedented success in the domestic competitions and developing The Showgrounds facilities to a very high standard. “In the process we have earned the reputation as being one of the most progressive and ambitious clubs in the league. “I think this reputation should provide the impetus to channel our energies as a club into renewing our challenge in the second half of the league. “Our supporters share our resolve to energise the club and the team for the remainder of the season. “The next few weeks will be critical in terms of preparing the squad and ensuring that finance is in place to support the club’s ambitions. In recent years the Annual Draw has been an important and successful fundraiser for the club. “This year we are calling on all our supporters and the wider Sligo community to show their support for their club by supporting the annual draw, which has a first prize of €5,000. “I cannot overstate the importance of this initiative at this particular juncture, and I am asking you to support us by taking a book of ten tickets for sale, or simply buying a ticket in the draw or encouraging a friend to do so. “Either way, we would greatly appreciate your support at this time. All you have to do is contact the club and we will do the rest. “Thank you again for your continuing support of Sligo Rovers.” Tickets can be obtained and purchased in a number of ways: Firstly, online purchase is available here. sligorovers/shop/product/annual-draw-ticket To obtain a book to sell e-mail Jane at jane@sligorovers or phone Showgrounds at 071-9171212 between 10am and 2pm.
