Sloughing Prayer Intercessory prayer is not prayer for any personal matter, nor is it praying in a general manner. Intercession is praying for someone elses needs but really goes beyond praying over words that have no personal connection. Intercession is intentional praying with expectant hope that God would respond to a strangers need. The prayer is given as if it where your personal request. It is trusting God to act on our urgent plea. That being said: Quit Saying you will pray for someone when you will not. Just saying or posting on Facebook the word “Praying” is not in and of itself praying. It’s not that we intend to be liars or promise unkeepers. We have intentions of praying but we fail to act on what we say we will do. In doing so we have robbed a person of our prayer, we have failed to obey God in His direction to pray as intercessors and we have robbed ourselves of the blessing. We must change our intended prayers into intentional praying. When someone asks you to pray stop what you are doing, as soon as you can, and pray. If they are on the phone or in your presence, pray with them right where you stand. Then put it on your prayer list as soon as possible. If prayer is real and a real God answers prayer then this is a priority. If none of that is true, then sloughing it off or setting it aside for later is acceptable. This exposes your view of prayer.
