Snow is on the way! Here are the details of the special weather statement from Environment Canada: Alerts for: Kingston - Prince Edward Statements 4:19 AM EST Tuesday 09 December 2014 Special weather statement in effect for: Kingston - Odessa - Frontenac Islands Napanee - Consecon Picton - Sandbanks Park Significant snow possible Wednesday afternoon into evening over Eastern Ontario. A developing low pressure system over the American Eastern Seaboard will track north and start to affect Eastern Ontario tonight. Given the fact that the low pressure system is still developing, there is still uncertainty as to its exact track, timing and intensity. The current guidance brings flurries or light snow into Cornwall - Morrisburg areas this evening. The precipitation then spreads north and east overnight. All indications at this time suggest that the heavier snowfall will start Wednesday afternoon through evening and the snowfall amounts are likely to be in the 10 to 15 cm range. Some localities could see higher amounts and a snowfall warning may be required. An additional 5 cm can be expected Thursday morning before the snow tapers off to flurries. As a result, for some localities, the storm total snowfall amounts could reach 25 cm in a 36 hour period through wedensday and into Thursday. The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
