Snow storm causes hazardous road conditions SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The roads were already covered with thick, sticky snow early Saturday morning. This type of snow is perfect for making snow balls or building a snow man, but can be extremely dangerous for drivers. If you shovel your driveway or walkway during heavy snow storms, it’s always a good idea to do so every half hour until the snow has stopped. You’ll have less snow to deal with, which means it’ll be less strenuous on your back. By Saturday night, certain parts of western Massachusetts could get as much as eight inches of snow fall. If you plan on driving on snow covered roads, you should warm your car’s engine up fully before driving. It’s also important clear ice and snow off of the roof of your car and the windshields; not only can a roof full of snow be dangerous, it’s also illegal in the state of Massachusetts. AAA says you should keep an eight to ten second gap between you and the car in front of you. This will help you avoid an accident if the car in front of you comes to a sudden stop.
