So, Cloud Atlas ... finally watched it this weekend. I dunno. It was like 2/3rds of a good movie. The prosthetic jobs on some of the actors were really bad, enough to jar me out of the story and two of the story arcs could have been cut completely with no effect to the end product. I think it might have been even better with different people playing the roles rather than the same core 8 actors playing different parts in questionable makeup. I had to turn on subtitles to understand the future pidgin language; without them that storyline was virtually incomprehensible. It did maintain a very good flow throughout the 3 hour run time, which is tough to do given the different time periods, but overall the scope was probably more epic than it needed to be to tell the story. YMMV.
