So I get a package in the mail yesterday and I go straight for the exacto knife to open it so that I do not hurt my hands ripping straight into it as has been my customary package-opening method for the past forty-odd years. This made me feel old on four different levels. First, obviously, that I take the time to go and get the exacto knife instead of tearing right into it. Second, that I know precisely where the exacto knife is. Third, that I call it "the exacto knife," and fourth, that opening a package without it hurts my hands.
