So I have to ask - why do we support Israel just because theyre Israel? I mean, okay - theyre Gods chosen people or whatever - but God got super pissed at Israel in the OT all the time. At this point it has become, Jesus is coming back, and Israel is in Revelation or something, so we have standing orders to support Israels decisions for bad international policy. Also, we support them indiscriminately killing civilians the vast majority of whom we believe are going to Hell. Establishing international policy based on an inerrantist, dispensationalist view of Christian theology is helping to create a safety net for a nation that is bombing children at the beach. This should be completely unacceptable to anyone who claims to believe half of what Jesus says. Supporting a friend has never meant supporting every action of that friend - in fact being a true ally to someone means holding them accountable to a system of values. The Christian Right is shaping policy based on the premise that being an ally means being unquestioning of our allys actions. This is insanity.
