So, I walked in late last night at my 8th grade 50 year reunion. There were 77 kids in the graduating class and 54 showed up for the reunion. 7 have died. I walked over to my buddy and asked him: When do my classmates show up, because all their grandparents are here!. It was so true, THEY had all gotten so OLD! But it was an amazing turnout. ALL of my childhood dreamboats were there, Tina, Sue, Susie, Shannon and Maureen were all there and of course, all secretly wanted me to renew old flames, but their spouses were less fun. Shiela was definitely as bad a girl as she ever was. I had a blast. I asked one spouse why he thought there was such an amazing turnout and he said again, that which Ive heard so many times that Glenside is a special, magical place where people growing up there are drawn to return there and they for some unknown reason stay in the area and remain close to each other. It engenders a sense of community that lasts beyond a generation, because it is passed on to the next generation, my kids and their cousins already feel it. As did my parents and their Glenside raised friends. Its that good Philadelphia Suburban Water Co. water I suppose. But its not just us, our spouses recognize it, too.
