So I want to tell you about meeting Kemal in Goreme in Capadocia. I was walking around the little town and was looking for a place to relax and just have a nice quiet meal. Ended up finding this restaurant on top of a Massive hotel built into the mountains and rocks that overlooked the entire town. I spoke with the waiter and he told me about some amazing dishes on the menu. Started talking to him and we just hit it off - talk about instant rapport. He ended up sitting down at my table while I was eating and we ended up talking about his family and relationships and life. It was a phenomenal conversation and an amazing evening. Come to find out - he and his family owned the hotel and the restaurant and we made plans to meet in the next evening or so for a traditional Turkish feast of music and traditional food and dancing. We ended up going two days later with two amazing girls from Brazil, laughed, and danced, and had a blast. He ended up showing us amazing sites around the town that night and spent the next day showing me ancient sites that most people dont get to see, frescoes in churches and views from little known mountains nearby. He drove me to catch my bus the day I left his town. Talk about time and kindness and an amazing sense of generosity. He totally made my experience in his beautiful town, and I am proud to have him as a friend.
