So I was just building with a Friend about the charter school debate. The Media knows how to keep ish going. One reason for Blasting DeBlasio is because he has demonstrated and his family dynamics shows that he will be on it when comes to properly servicing people in undeserved communities. For as long as he is in office the media will continue to find ways to discredit his work. Charter schools are not part of the Department of Education. They run by public funding, and run independently, which means there is little regulation compared to the Public school system. Most Charter schools are for profit entities. The Issue with Charter schools is that they are privately funded yet they want to occupy space in public school free of charge. So while the children in charter school excel the public schools continue to suffer because of the lack of funding. So now what the media has done is put Black faces in front of TV cameras to do their dirty work at making the mayors job harder and to get the same people who got him into office run him out. Having Charter schools in public schools is symbolic to having the field negro and the house negro debating over who gets the better treatment from the Master. ( a bit exaggerated, but I think you will get my point). Remember that his kids went to public school, these parents are advocating for THEIR CHILDREN not children in general, not all children get accepted into charter schools. SO WHAT MESSAGES ARE WE SENDING OUR PUBLIC SCHOOL CHILDREN. In My opinion All Schools Should HAVE AN EDUCATION THAT ENHANCES LEARNING FOR All Children. This should not be a matter of WHICH PLANTATION IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER.
