So, Im about to go to bed. Bought some light bulbs on the way home - TopicsExpress

So, Im about to go to bed. Bought some light bulbs on the way home and got the sudden urge to take down and try to fix the ceiling fan in the second living room. This led to realizing it was a lost cause, and the electrical box for the fan speed dimmer had actually melted and fused, AND it was a massive fire hazard. So I Uninstalled it and eventually rewired the switches. Then, because Im awesome, I Frankensteined the ceiling fan to turn it into just a light. See, thing is on the old ceiling fans they would put a mutal hook into the ceiling stud and run a pin through it to hold the weight. Most of the old ceiling fan motors weighed a good 10-15 pounds if you were lucky. Ours is closer to 25. So, I run the wires down the drop pole, put the old light base dish (admittedly a little precariously) over the old canopy, secure it in place with some zip ties, and go to put the globe on. Im feeling stupidly good about my ingenuity and ability to make this lost cause functional and rather safe, at the same time. We havent had a light on a switch in that room since well before I moved in. Now, Ive probably installed 90-100 ceiling fans. Ive probably installed 200-250 ceiling lights. In all that time Ive only ever dropped 3 globes. 2 of them broke. So, of course, at 5am while my room mate is fast asleep I drop the globe and it shatters all over the floor. That makes 4 drops, and 3 breaks. Im done. DONE. Just rewired the switches, put the plate on, and walked away. Im going to cut myself if I clean it up right now. Apparently my hands were shaking when I was going to put the globe on. Im really disappointed in myself. Kinda hit my ego a bit. Hurt my feelings. Goodnight, everyone.
