So Im doing an invitational speech on gun control and regulation. In opening the speech Im trying to present two majority standpoints on the issue, it was very easy to find specifically what the Democratic (presidential) standpoint on the issue was. I literally just went to the White Houses website and it was all laid out for me. I chose to use the NRAs opinion on the matter as a dissenting opinion. Scrolling through their website for about two hours all I could find was propaganda promoting various calls to action and a bunch pages quoting the second amendment. So in an effort to just get a clear understanding of their side of the issue I decided to call the NRA and ask them directly What is the NRAs stance on the proposed legislation a on gun control and regulation?, a pretty straight forward question no? Well after talking to three representatives all I got was We believe in the second amendment...... Really? I had no idea. Its kind of hard to present a fair and balanced view of both opinions when even the representatives for an organization dont understand their organizations view past below believing in the second amendment and understand them well enough to articulate their interpretation of, and how it pertains to their stance on proposed legislations. Not saying their opinion is wrong, (whatever that might be) itd just be nice if they knew what it was.. #endrant
