So Ive been a perfect customer of American Express since 1979. As most of my friends know I recently went to DC. I booked through Expedia, which I will never do again, a hotel. The very next day I cancelled it calling the hotel directly. We ended up staying at the Hyatt in DC which I highly recommend. The shady, since closed for renovations, oh sure, 12 and K hotel fraudulently billed expedia. Expedia billed American Express and American Express thinks Im going to pay them. NOT! I have been fighting with American Express for four months. American Express back in the day used to be a great credit card to have. It was prestigious to have one. Back in the day I felt they had my back. Not anymore. Their customer service is horrible, and Im mostly talking about hold time, human interaction, and of course resolution of problems. The sad thing for me is that Ive never ever asked them for anything in 36 years! I dont EVEN want to add up my membership fee times 36! I recently read theyre laying off 4000 people! I am asking for suggestions and other card options.
