So... Over the past month Austin has continuously requested to use his wheelchair More and More because as he says, I cant walk, and my feet dont work. As Ive shared before he has developed a hammertoe on his left foot... As I have become more observant of this toes recently with his obvious discomfort I have noticed he has more than One hammertoe, but essentially 8 hammer ties between both feet. Tomorrow I will be scheduling surgery to repair all of them at one time, along with correcting an issue with his big toe on his left foot. We honestly dont know that this is exactly what is causing Austins discomfort right now, because he lacks the ability to definitively tell us what the problem is, but as you can see in these pictures, its clearly an uncomfortable looking problem. IF this does not correct the discomfort, there will be options for additional procedures like fusing his ankle laterally, keeping it from rotating side to side. Please keep my buddy in your prayers that the toes are in deed the problem and we can get it corrected. Austin loves to walk, its basically his only real independence, which is why we know without a doubt he has an issue or he would never ask to use his chair.
