So Trial by Combat where the defendant fights a champion of the plaintiff is possibly still a viable trial method in the united states. It was a European law that was abolished in Britain after the United States independence from Britain, and because no post-independent US court has dealt with the issue, no laws abolishing trial by combat have been written. Its unlikely you could get a judge to comply, but going to court over a traffic ticket, or anything, can be contested to be a Trial by Combat.
