So... a little bit (okay - a lot) of frustration during the car ride with my mom today. I really need to vent a bit... and maybe increase awareness for others at the same time. I was having some real difficulty with arm pain, and she just had to say Well, Joanie L has had MS for 40 years, and shes never had trouble with her arms. Um... thats great for Joanie, but Im sure shes experienced other symptoms that I dont have. (And vice versa.) In fact, if you put 100 MS people in a room together, Im betting not even any 2 would have exactly the same symptoms! Its part of what makes this disease so hard to diagnose and to treat. Its a glorious grab bag of dozens of symptoms, with no ones experience exactly the same as another. My mom... I love her dearly but she doesnt seem to get this, as the subject of Joanies symptoms compared to mine has come up before. But if by writing this, I can help at least one other person to understand, Ill feel a little better. Thank you for listening/reading... and hopefully understanding. :)
