So an update on the midwives meeting with the Community Midwifery Programme that happened last week. The timeline for them being in Mandurah is a very long one and at this stage it is anticipated services will creep their way south as funding and legislation and organisation are happened. In the meantime they requested more statistics - around 200 respondents would be fabulous. We will create another survey to fulfil on their requirements. And MOST IMPORTANTLY: for all you pregnant women out there, or those who are intending to get pregnant and have dreams of homebirth please, please, please, please, please contact the Community Midwifery Programme and go through the registration process. This enables them to build a strong statistical profile they can use as fuel for their movements south. Even if youre unable to have a home birth with them you will be helping to change by expressing you interest and desire. Next action is to get an account up and running and start getting some funds in place to help enable women in the Peel Region to have easier access to a private home birth. If you have any wonderful ideas on raising funds (applying for grants is the current and only idea so far) then we would love to hear them.
