The Music Industry Association of Kenya has began operations. The board and steering committees are now in place. Musicians and Artists are encouraged to become members in order to take charge of their industry. Music Industry Association of Kenya We were registered by the government on January 17th 2014 to foster, promote and serve the best interests of Kenya’s music industry. Members of the association span across the entire industry and include; • Authors & Composers • Performers (DJs, Artists, Dancers etc). • Publishers • Music Producers & Record Label Executives • Videographers, • Any Individual members of any of the three CMOs – KAMP/PRISK/MCSK As the official music industry voice our objectives are: • To create mutual understanding amongst our members. • To promote and encourage members undertake economic activities to improve their welfare. • To unite our members. • To undertake such activities that is aimed at improving the economic welfare of our members. • To do any other thing that will be incidental to the above objectives. • To remain non-political in our operations At the onset, our board comprises of the following persons – • Arthur Kamau (Arthur K) – Chairman • Suzanne Gachukia – Vice Chairperson • Robert Kamanzi (Rkay) – Secretary • Amileena Mwenesi – Deputy Secretary • Bernard Kioko – Organising Secretary • Hubert Nakitare (Nonini) – Deputy Organising Secretary • Owen Mwatia (Daddy Owen) - Treasurer • Cecilia Amani – Deputy Treasurer • Emmy Kosgei - • Ben Githae - • DJ Pinye - • Ken wa Maria – • DJ Krowbar - • Suzzana Owiyo – There are several management committees as well. The initial committees comprise of the following persons.
