So, as a landlord for my Edinburgh flat, we have to give 2 months notice to our tenant to vacate. This has to be done and has been done through the Sheriffs Court as a notice served at our expense of ca. £75. The tenant has now not paid rent for June and is unlikely to pay for July, so is effectively squatting in our flat and there is nothing we, as landlords can do; not even bring the date of exit forward. Wft kind of system is that? Oh and it turns out that letting agency, IME, did not cut more keys and the tenant possesses the only set. This is the second tenant who has been unable to pay rent in succession. Note to anyone considering landlording in Edinburgh, avoid IME like the plague. Annoyed? Yeah, just a bit.
