So, consider this, world. You cell phone is about to become as powerful as the desktop machine you had maybe five years ago. It probably already has become so in terms of raw processing power. If you have a 64-bit dual core 2 GB processor, 2 GB of ram and 256 GB of flash memory, you are there and that may fit into a cell phone form factor. You use this for phone calls and messages when you are out but the display is too small, has not enough pixel width to rival the desktop you have at home or work. You might be able to plug it into a USB port at either to charge it, but if its power is similar to your older desktop, why not plug it into your USB hub as your desktop machine and use all the peripherals you once used with your deskside box? At least you might be able to use a tablet as a higher res display for it to talk to in the field. So what might be coming, might be needed? What if that device that fits in your pocket has a built-in projector that can display what would appear on your desktop display or tablet? It would display that on a tabletop or wall and along with that it would also display a keyboard, a fully functional keyboard, any keyboard you like created with light and able to see your keystrokes, along side the projected image of its full desktop. You would have to rely on that small screen and keyboard less. Projected keyboards are already a reality, can projected desktop displays be that far off?
