So finally we have the official sports report from last Saturdays NC Summer Regatta: So we had maybe 50 - 60 participants over the whole day and we got to run 4 competitions, some with heats, all of which were highly contested and all carried out with great camaraderie and bonhomie. So we started with the Senior mens race which was won by Martin OD, Mick, Dan OL, and Jim Malone. So next up we had the womens senior race which was won by Cathy in the bow, sinead & zaida in the engine room and Joya Joyful driving them all on from stroke. Next we had the Fear agus Bean race where the indefatigable Martin OD drove home with Siobhan steering them over the line. Followed up by Cathy & Donnacha in 2nd with a metronomic rhythm and followed in 3rd by the animated Stefan & Antoinette. Finally we had a battle royal in the Mixed race final. It was won by about a metre (or so Im told as I was otherwise occupied). A great neck and neck race from the final buoy made it a fitting end to a great days racing. The winners were Joya, mick (pickin up his 2nd prize), Ruth, and me (dobz) in the stern. So finally Id like to thank everybody for turning up and making it the great day it was. Those thats won have the bragging rights for the rest of the year and gives everybody else something to work towards over the winter. Last and not least Id like to thank marianne, Stefan, Oisin, Joya and Shane for helping to make this all happen. Til next time............
