So, funny. I can so relate to this. While operating my Yacht Charter business on S.F. Bay one of our biggest harrassments was done by the Red and White Fleet who operated Big Tour Boats on the bay. It was run by a former school mate of mine we were in friendly competition. Their favorite prank was to cut across our bow and leave us to deal with thier wake. Grabbing flying trays, drinks and steading passengers was our lot to deal with. We got our payback once when we had an international VIP on board and was given a Coast Guard Escort and a Helicopter overhead to direct and clear all Maritime traffic. I told our Capt. to cut across the bow of a Red and White Tour Boat and instructed the Secret Service guide to have the Helicopter hail the Tour Boat to: Stand Down. He issued the order on his radio to the Helicopter Pilot. I went on the Stern of our boat and watched with delight as the big Tour Boat had to throw their boat into Reverse. I gave them a big Swan Salute as I watched their boat rock and roll. My friend called me and laughingly said; You win, I cant match that one. :)
