So here is Isac. Isac is one of the people who work with and for Micheal and Sharon to serve the community of Bugembe. Isac had a job of driving passengers on a boda boda for a local business person. The system of earning money from being a boda boda driver is to collect fares from passengers in cash (Ugandan shillings) and to then pay the money to the owner of the boda boda, and the owner will pay some money to the driver according to how much has been earned. Of course this system is open to all sorts of problems as you could imagine. After we left Uganda (and said goodbye to Isac who had provided us with many trips on the boda boda from Jinja to Bugembe) it was the rainy season. During the rainy season not many people like to travel by boda boda because they get wet and uncomfortable. So the fares earned are much less than in the dry season. The man Isac worked for believed Isac was not honest because the money earned became less in the wet season, so that man stopped giving Isac the work. This was a terrible blow for Isac, who has a wife and children to try and support. You can see him in our other photos where some friends in the UK helped us to buy mattresses for them to sleep on, as they were sleeping on a concrete floor in a small room of a house near the church. So, this sad story has turned into a wonderful message of hope. We have raised enough money to purchase a boda boda, which is shown in this picture with Isac lovingly cleaning it off. The boda boda is the property of the mission and will be used to not only give Isac a job and earn income for himself AND for the mission, but will be used to get to families in need. An example of this is if a child in the village is sick and needs attention and medicine, Sharon and Micheal can quickly get to them and help. THIS IS A WONDERFUL blessing for the community. I would like to thank the people who purchased from us through Blue Mountains Garage Sale, because every dollar from those sales meant we could buy this for the people who so desperately needed it. It will end up saving lives!
