So, it happened like this …. When I was an apprentice in 1973 every household seemed to have different electricity sockets … 5A, 15A, AND 13-some even had their tv running from a light fitting leading from a ceiling rose. This made soldering difficult cos you probably didn’t have the right plug top attached… So…… the best thing to do was to stuff the bare wires into the socket and push a plug top in to hold them in place… Think it was my third or fourth week into the job and I was on a service call with Mike Tuen…. Mike.-“plug the iron in” Me- “It aint got a plug on it-it’s a big round one!” Mike-“Jam the wires in with the spare in my tool box” Well urm ….you’d best ask Mike Tune what happened next-he’s a member on here too. https://youtube/watch?v=olvDcGPkQIA
