So most of you know I am a Fire Chief. Last week I was able to obtain some shrimp and a Lobster and had plans for an awesome dinner. As with anything these days, plans change. So today I though what the hell, its time for a good meal. So I spent what seemed to be forever preparing and cooking and destroying my kitchen. I have it all ready to eat, on my table and it looks and smells awesome. I take one bite of shrimp and what do I hear out of the other room.... Beep Beep Beep Jefferson County alerting box 4-A, a vehicle accident #$ Washington Avenue I look out my window and can see the accident. I look back at my meal, then out the window again....you guessed it, time to respond to the accident. By the time I got back my awesome meal had turned into a rubbery mess. If you take anything from this story it should be this...The next time you have to move over for Fire Trucks, or have to wait while the Fire Department has a road closed or see those annoying Firemen out asking for donations....Remember what they are voluntarily giving up out of their own personal lives, while they put their lives on the line every day to save the life of people they have never even met. So when that Emergency Vehicle comes up behind you, pull over and STOP to let it go by. You never know, the house or life they are on their way to save could be yours, a friends or a loved ones. Guess Ill just eat an apple....
