So much negative sentiment and hate talk from fellow friends on FB - TopicsExpress

So much negative sentiment and hate talk from fellow friends on FB and people on the internet about last nights election result and it bothers me. Whats on my mind is this: We live in a country that has an electoral system that is free from corruption, one that can turn out results in less than 24 hours from when polling opens and one that fairly gives each eligible person a the chance to place two ticks on a voting form. We live in a country where our politicians debate how much tax one group of people should pay, not on what paramilitary group to now fight or how to curb a spreading murderous epidemic. We have free health care, benefits for the less fortunate and a political system that allows us to have our voices heard and though, depending on who you are, its a far from perfect, we are a lucky minority of 4 million people who are more fortunate than most in the world. The hate talk and negative sentiment should stop - it makes us look like spoilt brats. Despite who you voted for, were still very lucky and we get the chance to change the government in another 3 years should we so wish. Thats a definition of luck right there and Im grateful.
