So my boss calls and says theres no work til Monday. Nice for sure... til I realize that Im a victim of routine. I can plan time off work and look forward to some deserved time...the kind of time that you plan for and count the seconds til the arrival. But this time, although much appreciated has left me feeling like a kid off school for a snow day. What to do? I started my new freedom with a visit from Jim Alberico. I didnt realize how much I missed him. We reminisced... and played music, and drank beer and whiskey. We talked of old times and the most lovely players that we still hold dear. Where is Larry Juricic? So beautiful. Then we hoped that Jeff Rutter would be well soon and get back to his usual tricks. And no music conversation is complete without reveling in the blue mood that Harvey Huckstep creates. Im just a freshman in this southside music scene. But Ive been lucky enough to have made music the best. Im not from here, but my heart belongs here. Its the only home I know.
