So the Astrodome is dead, and that makes me legitimately a little mad. It was the first fully domed stadium built, and apparently its not worth a little money to keep alive in some form. The first home run inside it was hit by Mickey Mantle, it housed the longest lasting post season baseball game ever, Muhammad Ali fought Cleveland Williams in it, Selena performed in it multiple times and broke attendance records each time, and maybe most importantly in the wake of Katrina it gave shelter to over twenty thousand people. But yea, I can see why we had to let it rot for a while before deciding it wasnt worth saving, maybe we can build a nice big mall where it was.
