So, there was this guy who had a religious idea. He thought he could start a church and preach his own views on the scripture and he could probably get a lot of people to come. Here is what he thought would work. Change the emphasis from the Godhead to man-head. Change the hope of inheritance from Jesus in Heaven to Jesus on Earth. Keep the right names of God in scripture, but distort the meanings. Keep eternal life, but choose a method of receiving it that is not mentioned in the Bible. Stop preaching about what is mentioned in the scripture about the Last Day and start spinning some yarn about what "might" happen in the last days. Change the penalty of sin for people who were born that way. Make it so that Not everyone will have to stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Change "Church" from an identity to an event. And, above all else, stop talking about sanctification as that is always depressing. Disappointingly, when he went to have his "Grand Opening", too many others had already arrived at that tactic and he realized that he would be just another version of any others. Dear friends, do not be afraid to ask why the church you attend does not teach certain things that are clearly taught in scripture and why certain things are taught that are clearly not in scripture. You do not have to be on the attack. If you consider the ones, loved ones, and joint heirs, your questions may be just what is needed to get the body back to where she needs to be. If they will not listen and change, just tell them that you love them, hope the best for them and will pray for them......on your way out the door.
