So this is the time of the year when somehow one sums things up and hopefully can say he/she is reaping the benefits of ones work. well… it wasnt the fruitful year I wanted it to be and I know it also depends on me and on my choices. What have I done? I have traveled performing here and there, I have taught a few workshops, normal stuff. The biggest achievement, if I may call it so, was to see my festival, the Caput Mundi International Burlesque Award in Rome, being shamefully stolen by someone I thought was a business partner and a friend. This came along with a huge human disappointment, a demonstration of total lack of gratitude, sincerity, integrity and passion, and the revelation of what one person can do when she is only driven by ambition, individualism, megalomania, fear of age and deep dissatisfaction. Now Im off to Africa for a couple of months for an artistic project called La Caravane de Yama, that will see 4 european dancers, among which me, and a musician on a trip from Dakar (Senegal), to Bamako (Mali) and Bobo Dioulasso (Burkina Faso), and back to Dakar, to work on an artistic creation with local artists. This will inevitably be a human exchange that will hopefully bring back to me the trust for people and the hope that there are human beings who actually want to share and grow together out there. Few of you know about my love for african dance and music and know that this is a dream come true. So Im sort of taking a little break from burlesque, in order to dedicate myself to this passion of mine, but Im sure this will bring back new life and new ideas which I will put into practice when Im ready :) If you have appreciated my work as an artist so far and want to show understanding for my disappointment (because Im sure many of you have a similar story that can relate), but especially want to wish me luck on this new adventure please vote for me!
