So this was a pretty good read. I think a similar honk had happened to geeks. It used to be an exclusive identity but now is practically synonymous with nerd and claimed as a cultural identity for anyone that plays a computer game or watches a cartoon. For me its like calling someone a jock because they kick a footy around the backyard and watch the game on Saturday. Thoughts? Has our inherent desire to belong and label ourselves with a cultural identity succeeded only on eroding that identity to meaningless?
