So today is the anniversary of D-Day. The day when brave - TopicsExpress

So today is the anniversary of D-Day. The day when brave servicemen and women fought to prevent the spread of fascism across Europe. When we went head-to-head with Hitler and his hatred of Jews, disabled people and non-Germans alike. I want to thank you for your sacrifice and your dedication to freedom. Fast-forward to the 21st century. We have people commemorating D-Day on Facebook and at cenotaphs nationwide, whilst simultaneously voting for the likes of UKIP and BNP. Honestly, you should be ashamed. You want to honour the veterans memory? Dont vote for fascist parties that reflect the same ideology as the Nazis, and then have the bare-faced cheek to claim that you respect our war heroes. UKIP places the blame for everything on immigrants and Muslims (it could be 1930s Germany if you just change Muslim for Jew). Religious hatred, islamophobia and nationalism run riot. I genuinely hope that in a history lesson 100 years from now, theyre not showing the front page of The Daily Mail from 2014; spewing hatred about halal meat in Subway, and teaching future children that this was the beginning of the second Holocaust. So rest in peace, soldiers of freedom. I hope youre not turning too hard in your graves, watching your fellow countrymen repeat history.
