So upon hearing of Robin Williams suicide this week, it brought to mind the struggles my own father had with depression. This August marks 20 years since he passed away as the result of a massive heart attack at the age of 57. But he too attempted suicide twice ( once by overdose and the second by a shotgun blast that missed his heart and instead tore out his spleen and most of the tricep of his left arm). His struggles with depression had a profound impact on him and on our family. Visiting and spending part of Christmas Day at the psychiatric ward is not how one likes to remember Christmas as a child or teenager. I know that he is at peace and no longer has to battle his demons. But for others the battle goes on. I hope you find help before your family has to deal with this ultimate choice.
