NEW LONDON, CT (WFSB) - A 2-month-old boy is dead after allegedly being assaulted by his father in New London early Friday morning, police said. The baby passed away Saturday afternoon at a New Haven hospital. The States Attorneys Office will be charging the father, Adam Browne, with additional charges. Officers were called to a home on Crystal Avenue for an unconscious baby around 2 a.m. and the child was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital then airlifted to Yale-New Haven Hospital. According to police, Browne was watching the boy and the child started crying. After repeated attempts to make the baby stop crying didnt work, police said Browne shook him. Browne told police he grabbed the infant under both arms and shook him five or six times. In court documents, he described how Brownes head bounced back and forth. Court papers revealed Browne told police the baby boy immediately went limp. Browne went out of the room to calm himself down. When he returned, the baby still wasnt responding, so he called police. Police called the injuries non-accidental and Browne was arrested. Browne was charged with risk of injury to a minor and first-degree assault. Browne is being held on a $500,000 bond and is being arraigned at the State of Connecticut Superior Court.
