So we left Grammy cooling her jets at the hospital and waiting to be transferred from critical care down to a regular room with Malcolm tonight. I visited with her doctors today and learned that the MRI showed 2 strokes not visible on her CT Scan last week. One is older and one is new. Both are lacunar and can account for her lack of speech, loss of propioseptive abilities and coordination as well as some of the compulsive behavior weve been so concerned about lately. Her doctors are optimistic that with time and therapy, she can recover those abilities and skills! Her kidneys and heart are fully functioning and her electrolytes are getting back in balance too. Well spend the weekend in hospital seeing why she dehydrates so quickly and developing a game plan for preventing that so we can stay out of the darn hospital. Maybe getting a port for iv fluids? The road to recovery is full of caution signs. But that just gives us time to smell the roses.
