So, you know SoCal had a 5.1 earthquake centered in the north east Orange County area about 9:00 PM. It was very shallow, so it felt stronger and did some damage. Well, I was on my boat in downtown Long Beach, sitting in the salon watching some dumb thing or another. Suddenly, the boat felt as if it had been bumped twice. I have had it hit by a seal before, and thats how it felt, only way stronger. Wondering if it had been an earthquake, I went out in the cockpit and looked around. The water was rippling in the main channel and sloshing about in the empty slip next to me. I didnt see any palm trees swaying or hear any car alarms, so I figured it must have been a wake from a patrol boat in response mode. About 10:30 PM, I turned on the news to hear all about it. Marlyn was home in the mountains and said there was quite a bit of shaking, and the dog woke up and ran around the house barking.
