Soldier shot dead in Keran sector Hawaldar injured in landmine blast Baramulla: Suspected militants Friday shot dead a soldier in Keran sector along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, days after Army called off 14-day long search operation in the sector. “A group of heavily armed militants Thursday night tried to sneak into the Valley through Kachal in Keran sector. The soldiers of 15 RR, challenged the militants on spotting them. However, the militants opened random fire on the Army positions and engaged them in a fierce gunfight. In the ensuing gunfight that continued for several hours, a soldier was critically wounded. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries,” officials said. They identified the slain soldier as Sandeep Patil of Maharashtra. Meanwhile, in another incident in the Keran sector, a soldier was critically injured when he stepped over a landmine near the Balbir Post. The injured identified as Hawaldar Zahid Ali of 23 Grenadiers has been shifted to Army’s 92-base hospital, Srinagar. Admin: #LoveLy champ
