Solidarity with the Miqmac nation “I think what we’re seeing is beautiful. It’s the same spirit of resistance, of defiance, of a craving for liberty & justice that we’ve seen in Turkey, in Egypt, in Tunisia,” explains Christy, a local environmental activist who wishes her last name & Joss Whedon-like organizational affinities to be kept anonymous. “Peaceful protest doesn’t work in places like Canada or Europe or the Middle East,” she explains. “Those people have lost control of their government, of their police forces.” “It’s no use peacefully protesting over there, because that whole philosophy that the oppressor will become sickened by their own actions as they pummel you into submission — well, that’s insane, because in those places, the oppressor doesn’t have a conscience,” Christy continues. “We’re talking about psychopaths, rapists, fascists, pigs! Violent scum who get off on doing the things that sicken good people like us. You can’t make a movement out of trying to wake up such scum by letting them slaughter you.” pdxintelligencer/american-activists-applaud-indigenous-uprising-in-canada-thank-god-that-it-cant-happen-here/
