Somali Government commends Ethiopia’s role in Somali peacekeeping Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Buri Mohamed Hamza, has praised the role the Ethiopian contingent in AMISOM is playing to stabilize the country. The State Minister said that the Ethiopian forces had a critical role and called for them to take more involvement to protect international aid agencies and foreign diplomatic missions in Somalia. At a meeting with the Ethiopian Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Wondimu Asaminew, on Saturday (May 17) the State Minister discussed bilateral issues, regional security and anti-terrorism efforts. Ambassador Wondimu re-affirmed Ethiopian government’s commitment to help the Somali government and people and assured the State Minister that Ethiopia would continue its cooperation with Somalia. The State Minister also expressed his thanks for the Ethiopian government’s role in hosting Somali reconciliation conferences and for providing shelter and assistance to tens of thousands of Somali refugees.
