Some CA 1.Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Vibrant Gujarat today and promised to make India as the easiestdestination to do business with a stable tax regime and a transparent policy environment. He also said a single window clearance for projects is being set up at both central and state level.Lots of businessmen from around the world, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and US Secretary of State John Kerry attended the Vibrant Gujarat event and promised to invest in Gujarat. John Kerry address investors in the event to improve economic ties between the USA and India and discuss different bilateral and global issues. He also mentioned that Modis campaign ofSabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (participation of all, development for all) can be a win-win situation for all. 2. Senior IAS officer Sindhushree Khullar was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog, newer version of planning commission. Her appointment was effective from 1stJanuary 2015 and will serve for one year. Earlier she was appointed as Secretary of the Planning Commission on contract basis for two years in March 2013.Famous Economist Arvind Panagariya was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the NITI Aayog and Economist Bibek Debroy and former DRDO chief V K Saraswat were appointed as full-time members of NITI Aayog. 3. World Bank President Jim Yong Kim has projected Indian economicgrowth at 6.4% for the next year 2015 and will improve further in the next year.He also said that he was very encouraged by the recent proposal of a Constitution amendment bill for Goods and Services Tax which should have positive impact on Indias economic growth. Some Global CA 1. The US economy added 252,000 jobs in December as economy improved significantly. US unemployment rate dropped to 5.6% in December compared to 5.8% in November, as per the datapublished by the US Labor Department. This is the lowest unemployment rate since June 2008. 2. Chinas inflation, measured by consumer price index, stood at 1.5% in December compared to 1.4% in the previous month of January. Inflation increase marginally due to increase in prices of some food items.Consumer price inflation (CPI) for the whole year 2014 stood at 2% compared with 2013 which was much lower than governments target of 3.5%.
