Some Local History - Taverns in Port Dalhousie on January 6, 1869 By Bill Stevens Port Dalhousie has always had an abundance of Taverns, Bars, Pubs, etc.. Way back on January 6, 1869 a government report was made as follows: Return of the Number of Tavern Licenses issued in each County, City, Town, or Incorporated Village, in detail. Also, the name of the party to whom issued, and the name of the Issuer for each County, with the amount received from such Licenses to date. The table below gives the name of six license holders and the cost of the license listed for Port Dalhousie: Bernard McGRATH - 5.00 E. H.
